Tranquil Fly Fishing Farm
We, Jaco and Shenda are raising our family on a farm which has amazing views of water and untamed land. Life was pretty normal for us with full-time jobs, a farm to manage and children going to school until the Covid-19 pandemic hit South Africa.
So what does a family do to avoid cabin fever while still working from home full-time, children are online-schooled and keeping the peace in the house?
This is how the Tranquil Fly Fishing dream started on 6 June 2020.
What makes our farm so special!
We are based in Pretoria East, accessible for those individuals who cannot always travel hundreds of kilometres, but want to try fly fishing for the first time or practise their fly fishing skills before heading off to the infamous Dullstroom for some serious fly fishing. All this whilst enjoying yourself in nature.
Our facilities include camping under the stars where you can choose your spot and our outdoor bathroom features a shower, toilet and basin. Hot water by means of an old-fashioned donkey with wood/coals. Now isn’t that an experience!
The Team
Jaco recalled fond memories of 17 years ago when he was fishing trout in the dam for private use and it was such a special and unique activity that he decided to stock the dam again, and this time share the experience and open up for the public.
Shenda is the glue of the family. True to her roots, her passion is to take care of the family and the guests visiting the farm. Her sparkly personality will make you feel right at home and you just know you’ll be taken care of during your visit.
Javier is the eldest son. He loves rugby, computer gaming and the open spaces. He first experienced the thrill of fishing on the farm. His desire is to farm when he finishes his tertiary studies.
Jayce is the middle child. He adores nature and loves rugby, and his computer games. He just as his brother, loves the open spaces and first experienced the thrill of fishing on the farm.
Bella is the youngest, but she will take on a challenge when it comes her way. Full of spirit and her love for the outdoors she is the light on the farm, warm and friendly.
